Already Behind

A friend of mine started a blog club.  In this club, we would discuss our goals for the new year.  We would add a new entry everyday and discuss our goals and how we are doing.  I told my husband, and he said "You won't keep it up".  It made me realize, I don't follow through with anything.  Today is January 2nd and I am just starting my first blog.  I am already behind hence the title.  Only the second and am already not following through...

I am sitting on my bed writing this blog, this is my first time doing this.  I have been thinking about my goals for the new year and what I should really work on.  There are several items in my life I would like to fix.  I really shouldn't complain; I have a great life, but it's not perfect.  It seems pretty easy...following through on my ideas.  I have had several plans that I have never followed through on.  For instance, running for school board.  I really wanted to run for school board this month, but blaimed it on my husband.  He said I would never see my kids.  I was kind of glad he said that and used it as an excuse but in reality, I was afraid to lose.  I was also afraid to win too.  What if people hated me or made the wrong discussions?  I also fall behind on cleaning and organizing my house, my desk and car!  This is something I am going to keep up with.  No, I am not a total slob.  I just keep stuff way too long.  The shredder will be my new best friend!  Oh, yes the last one is the cliche goal...weight loss.
Let's start from the beginning.  I have always been fat.  I think it started when I was around 8 or 9.  But didn't notice it until I was 10 or 11.  I didn't think I was fat until kids in school called me Wilbur.  And at that time I started my first diet.  I have been on a diet my whole life.  This time it's not a diet, just a "life change".  Really, I know what your thinking when I wrote, "life change".  How profound, what a cheesy phrase that I can't and wouldn't want to take credit for.  I have gained and lost and lost and gained.  I currently have kept 30 pounds off for 2 years.  I am going to go for another 30 pounds in 2011.  Wow you think, why would her blog be called the Fat Girl and Her Goals.  If she has lost 30 pounds is she really fat?  Oh yes, I am 5'2 and 167.  So let me tell you, I have fallen in love with running.  I have been cheating on my love with laziness the past month.  I am going to get back into the swing of things,  El Paso's marathon is in March.  I am going to start training for the half, a whole 13 miles.  I think I can do it....wait, I know I can do it!!.  My husband and I have also banded fast food from our house.  I am going to stay committed to losing weight.  I would like to know what it is to wear a size 6.  I have never worn a size 6, except in sixth grade and that doesn't count.  Do you ever wonder, hmm I have been a certain way all my life...what is it like to change?  Small steps to a size 6 on December 2011.

Now that I have brought you to total boredom with my goals for the year, I just want to say one more thing before leaving.  Every day is going to be an entry on how I am doing with my new life changes.  I don't think it's going to be the easiest of tasks for me.  This time I am going to work really hard on them.  This fat girl is going to brake off the chains and move forward to a new and improved me.  I hope you find this blog interesting and do not fall asleep while reading.  Caution, do not operate heavy equipment while reading!  Stay tuned for tomorrow's.  If I keep up with this everyday, I know one goal will be done.

Welcome to my blog,
The Fat Girl and Her Goals

  2. I have the same dream of the elusive size 6...I too have not worn that size since, oh I feel like I skipped over that size and went straight to a 12. I admire your running ambitions and it's great that you have a marathon to look forward to!

  4. A marathon is great goal! I ran the Chicago Marathon in 2006 by following the Jeff Galloway method. I haven't run since, but that's a different story. I would love to do it again! It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! It's a wonder why I haven't run since?? You can totally do it!!!!
