What's the point of tieing your tubes, if you still have a period?

January 12th

I tied my tubes for a reason...to have as much unprotected sex with my husband without the consequences of getting pregnant.  With that, I wish it also eliminated my period, since I really don't need the egg anymore.  Can someone please explain to me why that can't be accomplished?  I'm gross, I know.  I know this is way too much information for you.  But really...I think Jenn discussed this earlier in the month.  This whole "period" thing is way overrated...and well it's kind of a waste of time for me!  On a side note, I guess I shouldn't really complain about having a period.  There could be far worse things, I could be a hermaphrodite and worry about hard on's and periods..that would suck.  I really shouldn't be blogging about this.  I guess I am just trying to fill up space for today.

Oh, I want to vent on something else.  My goals for today is the reason for this paragraph.  Sorry, you thought you were done!  There was an article in the local paper today that got me furious.  The city has been granted federal funds for an art project.  They have commissioned local teens and young adults to paint murals on buildings.  The business' have to agree, and it's on the sides, never on the front of the business buildings.  Well apparently a few citizens of Belen are furious and don't think the art work is tasteful.  One citizen said it reminded him of Juarez.  I am going to write a letter to the editor because of the big deal people are making over this.  Really, citizens of Belen should be outraged for the numerous abandoned buildings, the flea markets and the embarrassment of not growing like our sister city to the north of us.  It's not the murals that make us look like Juarez, it's the other eyesores I previously mentioned.  Please, give me a break.  We should be upset that our council people can't get business to set up shop here, and the 55 Herbal Life shops in town is not what I am talking about.

I know you all think I am a weirdo.  I am working on the whole balance thing with my diet...not with my writing style, obviously.  Have yourself a FABULOUS weekend!!

  1. THAT is the precise reason that I started getting the Depo Provera shot. I had never been on birth control before (yeah, I know, I'm 32 and have 3 kids....) but we know we're done having kids, and I wanted the same perks as you mentioned. ;)

I will probably eventually get my tubes tied, but in the meantime, am REALLY enjoying not having a period. I know I can't stay on the depo forever, I'm hoping that science will provide a way to make me happy by the time I can't be on the depo anymore, LOL.

Anyway, good luck on your letter to the editor - you have valid points, and I know you will write a convincing letter!

  3. MEL!!! I love your openess, honesty, and all around great ideas. I think it's bananas that we all ended up on our periods around the same time. The Sisterhood of the Travelling Menstrual is coming to a bookstore near you. Keep on making Belen fabulous. We've all got your back, front, middle, and sides girl! Cheers!
